Very simply, neurofeedback therapy is a way to exercise your brain so that it can become healthier.
To determine whether neurofeedback is right for you, we’ll do a QEEG diagnostic evaluation to produce a brain activity map as pictured below. A QEEG measures the electrical activity produced by your brain waves much like an EKG measures the electrical activity produced by your heart.
Afterwards, we perform a full comprehensive analysis to see if your symptoms are related to the brain activity observed and whether you will be an appropriate candidate for neurofeedback treatment.
We offer surface and LORETA z-score neurofeedback as well as neurostimulation as choices for neurotherapy.
“All I could do was lay motionless in the dark with no TV, no electronics, no writing, no music. My head would spin when I would try to get up. My job includes traveling all over the world speaking to thousands of people. I wondered if I would lose my job and never be able to work again.
A friend told me how neurofeedback therapy was the key to her healing. I googled neurofeedback and found Neuro Hope. I absolutely love Dr. Bonack. Through neurofeedback therapy sessions, Dr. Bonack helped me gain my life back! Actually, now my life is even better than before the concussion, as she helped me learn how to deal with anxiety disorders that plagued me for much of my life.
Thanks, Neuro Hope, I’m back going 100%, and the sky is the limit!”
Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography Analysis (LORETA) z-score neurofeedback allows us to examine and treat the deeper areas of your brain. LORETA z-score neurofeedback addresses symptoms by treating dysregulated brain wave activity generated by the deeper areas of your brain.
We perform LORETA z-score neurofeedback with the same 19-electrode cap used to complete your brain mapping. As a result of its ability to help brain networks function more effectively, people often find that this type of neurofeedback helps them to feel better more quickly.
We do surface neurofeedback by placing electrodes specifically at the area of your scalp we need to address; it, too, has helped many people feel better.
We determine which type of neurofeedback therapy is best for you based on the results of your brain map and LORETA analysis. We will collaborate with you to determine the best type of neurofeedback treatment for you. We tend to use neurostimulation or LORETA z-score neurofeedback more frequently but will use surface neurofeedback if we feel it is the best way to address your symptoms.
After we complete a detailed analysis, we go over your results with you to show you what we have found and whether surface or LORETA z-score neurofeedback is right for you. Don’t worry! Neurofeedback therapy is not embarrassing or painful and usually produces few, if any, side effects. As you exercise your brain during your neurofeedback sessions, your brain will learn how to operate more effectively – and you’ll begin to feel better. We base all neurofeedback protocols specifically on what your brain demonstrates it needs – on the symptoms you find most disturbing to you. People often find that any apprehension that they may have had about neurofeedback treatment typically goes away after the first session. Neurofeedback does not input anything into your brain through the electrodes attached to your head through a cap or by individual placement. Instead, the electrodes read your brainwave patterns just like an EKG reads your heart activity. While doing neurofeedback training, your brain learns to operate within the specific parameters that have been created to address your symptoms. “Dr. Bonack is one of a kind. I have post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and had run into challenges both physically and emotionally many years prior to finding Dr. Bonack. I saw several doctors that worked in this field and used similar approaches to treat PTSD. Dr. Bonack was the most approachable and understanding of any of the doctors that I visited. Not only was she a great communicator, but she was the most knowledgeable of all the practitioners I saw and was extremely effective in her approach to treatment of a myriad of symptoms.
Dr. Bonack uses leading technologies and practices in an integrated approach that is impossible to find anywhere else. Her integrated approach using psychotherapy, neurofeedback, low level laser treatment, brain mapping, and QEEG had me feeling better than ever before after completing the recommended treatment plan.
It is now nearly two years later, and I am still in shock at the sustained improvement and function. I have referred numerous people to Dr. Bonack. My son, who does not have PTSD but was exhibiting ADHD symptoms and needed help in focusing and attention at school, was guided by Dr. Bonack to use a home-approved treatment to improve focus. In less than a week, his teacher called my wife and me from school asking what we had changed, where we had found a solution, etc. She wanted to refer several of his peers’ parents to the same solution we were fortunate to have found, as it was more effective than any ADHD treatment she was aware of.
Having looked for help for years, I will be forever grateful for the advice, treatment, and professional friendship I found at Neuro Hope Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback. Keep up the good work, Dr. Bonack. Your work changes lives.”
Neurofeedback therapy, can help with a wide array of mental health conditions. It can help with issues such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, brain injuries, seizure disorders, concussion-related complications, sexual trauma, substance abuse and addiction, cognitive functioning, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), traumatic brain injury, obsessive compulsive disorder, sleep problems, learning disabilities and more.
So, if you’re struggling with any of these conditions neurofeedback therapy could provide the solution you’ve been seeking.
Neurofeedback therapy works by harnessing the power of your brain’s natural plasticity, allowing it to learn new ways of functioning and responding to stimuli. It’s like hitting the reset button on your brain’s neural pathways, leading to improved brain function, mental health and overall wellbeing.
During neurofeedback therapy, you’ll be presented with visual or auditory feedback based on your brain’s activity. This feedback is designed to guide your brain into healthier brain wave patterns patterns. For instance, if the therapy detects high-stress patterns, it will provide feedback that encourages relaxation.
