We have two offices in our building at 7680 Goddard St Suite 130, is for neuropsychological testing and neurofeedback. These offices are also available to accommodate those who cannot walk up the stairs for therapy services.
Most insurance companies pay for therapy and neuropsychological testing. They do not typically pay for neurofeedback, which is often paid for by cash/check/credit card payment.
For those who don’t have insurance or wish not to use their insurance, we accept cash/check/credit card payment, as well.
As a courtesy, we offer financing through Advance Care if you prefer to make a monthly payment for your services.
Please note that all our services are CASH PAY ONLY, and we do not accept any insurance. This allows us to focus entirely on your individual needs without the constraints of insurance policies.
After the consultation, we will schedule an intake appointment for you, so we can gather information about you and your needs. After doing so, we record your brain wave patterns, so we can analyze the connection between your brain wave activity and your symptoms. This appointment typically lasts two hours.
The doctor will meet with you to discuss the neurofeedback services we offer. It’s important that you understand what we do here as not all clinics are the same.
Each session runs about 45-60 minutes. We will administer treatment based on your treatment plan. You typically are able to watch a movie of your choice while undergoing your treatment.
We conduct a thorough analysis of your brain wave activity and customize a treatment plan specifically for you.
After that, we schedule an appointment for you to come back, so we can go over the results together and talk about how to move forward. You can schedule this feedback session at the time of your evaluation appointment, as well.
Forcing the process is the exact opposite of what you want to do. That would be like sitting in the chair, grabbing the arm rests and saying, “I’m trying to relax!” Instead, as you sit in the chair, your brain will know what it needs to do and will do it. Relax and enjoy the process!
We get these questions a lot. It will not hurt; and, no, we cannot program your mind or read your thoughts. Our clients typically enjoy the process. They can see themselves feeling better and are grateful for what they have accomplished.
Patients typically reach the most success after 40-60 sessions.
If you are doing LORETA z-score or surface neurofeedback training (traditional neurofeedback), the electrodes in the cap you are wearing will read your brain wave activity. We tailor the computer program to help the movie interact with the software that monitors your brain wave activity. When your brain exercises according to the prescription that Dr. Bonack has customized for you, the movie will be bright and colorful. When it is not exercising, the movie will become grayscale, which reminds the brain to exercise. We set the threshold to promote your brain to exercise about 50% of the time, so it’s not too hard or too easy.
Dr. Bonack personally monitors your progress throughout your treatment. Typically, around the 40-session mark, we can tell if you need to continue or finish treatment. Sometimes, people continue because they like what they have accomplished and want to fine-tune their results.
Typically, when you have achieved optimal results, you will not need to return. Occasionally, you may need a “tune up,” at which time we can start a shorter round of sessions.
First, you schedule an intake session, which typically lasts an hour. After this appointment, we request an authorization for services from your insurance company.
It typically takes 2 or 3 appointments to complete testing. Each of these appointments can last from 2-3 hours. Most people are curious as to what tests we administer. We perform a variety of tests so that we can see how you do in certain tasks. These help us better understand your strengths and weaknesses.
We talk about your diagnosis and recommendations for treatment. We also discuss the results of testing so that you better understand how to make sense of what they mean.
In most cases, we must complete an authorization from your insurance company to begin the testing process. Once we receive authorization, we will contact you directly to set up testing appointments.
If you are obtaining testing services without using your insurance, we can bypass that step and move on to the testing appointments themselves.
After completing the testing, the doctors carefully analyze the results from the evaluation appointments and write the report. We usually contact you within 2-4 weeks to schedule a feedback session.
We give you two copies of the report. This way you have a permanent copy, and you can give one to another provider or your child’s school if needed. We also fax it to your referring provider so that they also have the results. If you need your testing results at a later time, we can often email it to you using our secure email server so that you can have an electronic copy, as well.
